SINGAPORE : 250 clients from low-income families at the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) have more reason to cheer this Christmas!
Transportation charges to and from the society's ability centres in Tiong Bahru and Tampines will be waived for them, all thanks to Caltex's donation of diesel worth S$42,000 to the society's transport service.
This is equivalent to one year's worth of fuel that will be pumped into the seven SPD-owned vans that are wheelchair-enabled and specially adapted to meet the needs of the physically disabled.
The clients visit the ability centres for a variety of services, including rehabilitation, as well as IT and vocational training.
