SINGAPORE – A retired Singaporean businessman died from a suspected heart attack while participating in an outdoor war game last Saturday in Hong Kong’s Yuen Long district.
According to Hong Kong media reports, Mr Derek Tam, 51, had arrived in Hong Kong with his niece and several friends last Friday.
Mr Tam had put on his camouflage gear and protective mask and was holding his air gun. He then proceeded to the game arena and was walking for about five minutes when he collapsed suddenly.
He was taken to hospital and was pronounced dead after doctors failed to resuscitate him.
Mr Tam was believed to have no previous medical history but was suffering from high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
He was reported to have succumbed to the cold temperature, which was around 10° C at the time of the incident. Media reports identified Mr Tam as a former director at Sentosa Development Corporation.
