SINGAPORE : Despite the recent gang incident at Downtown East, demand for chalets during the year-end holiday period is still strong.
There is also a 50 per cent increase of security guards in the area, said NTUC Club which operates the chalets.
It said occupancy rates are full – similar to the same period last year.
The only difference is there's increased security this year.
This includes more guards, patrols, installation of CCTVs, and more lighting at dimmer areas.
Members of the public Channel NewsAsia spoke with said the area is safer and the guards are a welcome sight.
NTUC Club said the chalets are also fully booked for New Year's Eve.
