Brian John Yim wants to inspire budding composers to make the most of their talent by conducting workshops on the subject. DENNIS CHUA writes.
RECORDING artiste and songwriter Brian John Yim will be conducting songwriting workshops at MPH stores at 1 Utama (new wing), Petaling Jaya tomorrow and Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur on June 28 from 2 to 3pm.
The music producer and owner of a recording company has made it his mission to inspire others to become successful musicians, singers and songwriters.
Last year, Yim was nominated by the then Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen for the Most Outstanding Young Malaysian award.
“I see much talent among our youth. Thus, I enjoy running workshops on songwriting. I teach budding songwriters on how to make the lyrics memorable.”
Yim’s newly-released second album, The Time Has Come, comprises contemporary numbers written by him over the years.
The album includes the single Here I Am, which was aired in Brazil and slated to be translated into Portuguese.
Yim also duets with award-winning singer Juwita Suwito and Vincent Chong of Akademi Fantasia 1 fame, while Joanne Yeoh, an acclaimed Malaysian violinist, accompanies him on a track.
Yim co-produced the album with Abraham Tee, who was a judge on the popular Astro Talent Quest.
