In love, with forests

PHNOM PENH: Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has agreed to pay $5 million over the next 15 years to set up a wildlife sanctuary in a former Khmer Rouge-controlled area of Cambodia, a senior charity official said on Friday. Jolie, who fell in love with the country while filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, has already paid $3,50,000 to get the ball rolling. The project aims to protect more than 20,000 hectares of forest in northwest Cambodia, which five years ago was still controlled by remnants of the brutal ultra-communist Khmer Rouge.

Abhishek's Role Call

Abhishek’s role call

GOOD DAYS are definitely around the corner for Abhishek Bachchan. Besides Raj Kumar Santoshi and Mani Ratnam’s films, he’s also doing a film with Rajiv Menon, who is all set to direct his first film in Hindi. A father-son story (many more are in the making in Bollywood), Menon’s film is being produced by I Dreams and written by Anjum Rajabali (who will turn a director shortly).

Abhishek is also finally ready to make that long-due film with Ram Gopal Varma happen. The last time they almost came to working together was for “Bhoot”, and then an aborted script called “Rakshasa”. Now Ramu is working on another exciting script with Abhishek in the lead.

This past week, Abhishek began shooting for Boney Kapoor’s “Run” with newcomer Bhoomika and Mahesh Manjrekar.
